Most people searching for a wrap near them are not being lazy. They are trying to avoid leaving a work vehicle at a shop two hours away for most of a week.
That is the real cost of going far for a wrap. A van off the road is jobs not done. Close means you drop it in the morning, and you are back in it in a couple of days, not next week.
It also means you can come and look at the vinyl before you commit. Color on a screen and color on a panel are different things, and nobody should be picking a fleet color from a thumbnail.
Road Rage Designs has wrapped vehicles for over twenty years out of one shop in Spring Grove, Illinois. Not a franchise, not a van that turns up at your yard, not a web page with a service radius. One address, one team.
We are 3M certified graphics installers and PDAA master certified, and we print in house rather than sending artwork out. That is why a change to a design costs you an afternoon instead of a week.
Crystal Lake is McHenry County, same as us. If something needs looking at after the install you are not filing a ticket, you are driving up the road.
Day one is measuring and design. We measure your actual vehicle, because a template does not know where your door handles and body lines are, and a wrap that ignores them lifts at the edges within a year.
You see the mockup on your vehicle before anything prints. Change it as many times as you want at that stage, because it costs nothing until it is on vinyl.
Then we print, and the install happens indoors on a cleaned panel. Most single vehicles are two to three days. Fleets we schedule so you never lose more than one vehicle at a time.
Ready to get started?
You do not have to start with a full wrap. Vinyl cut lettering and door magnets put your name and number on the vehicle for a fraction of it, and plenty of our fleet customers started exactly there.
Beyond that: partial wraps, full wraps, color change wraps and exotic textured vinyls, for cars, vans and trucks. Commercial fleets, trailers, box trucks, buses and semi trucks, including US DOT compliance numbers.
We also do boats, golf carts, ATVs and snowmobiles, plus signs, banners, window graphics and wall murals. One shop, so a storefront and the truck parked outside it can match.
If it is the building rather than the vehicle you need, see custom banners in Crystal Lake and wall murals in Crystal Lake.
We are at 2449 Pierce Dr in Spring Grove, Illinois, north of Crystal Lake and in the same county. For most of Crystal Lake it is a straightforward drive rather than a trip.
We say this plainly because a lot of wrap listings in a near me search are service areas with no shop behind them. You can come and stand in ours.
Two to three days for most single vehicles. A simple partial wrap or lettering can be a day. A full wrap with complex artwork on a large truck runs longer.
The design stage happens before your vehicle comes in, so you are not sitting without it while we draw. We agree the design, then you book the vehicle in.
Yes, and you should. Color on a screen is not color on a panel, and textured and matte finishes look nothing like their photographs.
Come to the shop and we will put samples in daylight next to your vehicle. For a fleet, that fifteen minutes is worth more than any amount of back and forth over email.
It depends on the vehicle and how much of it you are covering, and anyone quoting you a figure before seeing either is guessing. Size first, then coverage, then how complex the artwork is, then the vinyl.
Tell us the vehicle and what you want it to do and you will get a real number, not a range that moves later.
Quality vinyl handles road salt and the freeze and thaw cycle. What fails is almost always the install: edges that were not sealed let salt and water underneath, and then it lifts.
Wash by hand through the winter instead of a brush wash, and keep the pressure washer away from the seams. That is most of the maintenance there is.
On sound factory paint, no. The vinyl protects the panel underneath from chips, salt and sun, and it usually comes out better than the rest of the vehicle.
Repainted or already failing paint is the exception, and vinyl can lift it on removal. We check before we start and tell you if a panel is a risk rather than discovering it at the end.
